On Wednesday, September 11th, the Motherwell FC Heritage Group is offering you just that — a unique opportunity to blend a passion for football with a bit of hands-on work during a special Scan-a-Thon event at the ‘Citadel of Silky Football”.
A Day Like No Other
The Heritage Group is hosting its first-ever Scan-a-Thon, a pilot event to start digitising the club’s historical records and memorabilia. The day-long session will be the first step in creating a virtual museum that celebrates Motherwell FC’s storied legacy.
Whether you’re a lifelong supporter or just someone who appreciates history, this is a chance to be part of something meaningful, preserving the past for future generations. And what better setting for this endeavour than Fir Park itself, where history is made and remembered?
Sign Up for a Shift, Stay for the Experience
Participants can sign up for two-hour shifts throughout the day, making it easy to find a slot that fits into your schedule: 10:00-12:00; 13:00-15:00; 15:00-17:00; 18:00-20:00.
As you scan match programmes and artifacts, you’ll be helping to safeguard the club’s history while enjoying an unbeatable view of Fir Park’s lush green pitch — the best “office” backdrop you could ask for.
Not only will you get to contribute to an important project, but you’ll also have the chance to meet other like-minded fans and volunteers. It’s a community effort where every scan is a step towards building a comprehensive digital archive of Motherwell FC’s heritage.
Food, Refreshments, and a Slice of History
Your work won’t go unappreciated. The Heritage Group will provide refreshments, snacks and more sustenance for those who’ll be with us over the lunch and evening breaks. But that’s not all — we’ll have videos on hand from some of our special Motherwell moments.
